Hi Joe (or should I say "cuz"). JT and Rowena are our great grandparents, so we share a bit of DNA in common. We've gathered some additional info and photos is you are interested in expanding your collection? Been to Seaboard recently?

  2. I haven't been back to the Seaboard area since my grandfather (John Wayland Maddrey) died a few years ago. I do have some additional family photos that aren't posted on the blog, and I'm always interested in gathering more family history. Shoot me an email at holyjoe3[at]juno.com.

    1. Hi Don - If this is a relative of mine, I assume it must be Howard Carlton Maddrey (1890-1966). Third son of Joseph Thomas Maddrey and Rowena Milner Stephenson, he graduated from North Carolina State College in 1913, a major in ceramic engineering. He was a merchant for many years, then went into the cotton business, farming and insurance. He is buried in Seaboard town cemetery alongside his wife Martha. I'd be curious to see the painting.
