Last weekend, L. and I wandered out to one of our favorite hiking spots - Vasquez Rocks. On the back side of the park, we ran across a trail that seemed to go on and on. It wasn't until later that we realized we were on the Pacific Crest Trail - the west coast's answer to The Appalachian Trail. Designated in 1968 and completed in 1993, the trail spans 2,650 miles from Canada to Mexico and crosses seven national parks, six state parks, 25 national forests and 14 wilderness areas.
